FAQ

Featured Users

Why would I want to be a Featured User?

To get more Twitter followers, support Twitter app developers, and gain brand exposure.

What is an "impression?"

An "impression" is generated every time a user views a page displaying a Featured User's banner.

What does "Click Through Rate" or CTR mean?

"Click Through Rate" or CTR is the average percentage of users that clicked on your profile ad. The CTR will vary between Featured Users and Publisher sites.

How many new Twitter followers will I get?

It depends. If you're a highly interesting Twitterer you may see a large amount of new Twitter followers by becoming a Featured User. If your Twitter profile comes off as spamish, you may not see a large increase in Twitter followers. Ultimately, we'll make sure other Twitter users know about you. It's up to you to charm them into following you. :)

Do you guarantee I'll get Twitter followers?

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee you will get Twitter followers. Similar to how a newspaper does not guarantee a sale for a classified ad, we do not guarantee people will follow your Twitter account. However, we do guarantee your Twitter profile will be viewed by 1000's of other Twitter users. But ultimately it is up to the end user to choose to follow you.

How do you determine whose ad will displayed next?

We use geo-location technology to try and display Featured Users who are located near the viewing user. Aside from this Featured Users are selected at random based on if they have any impressions available.

Where will my profile be displayed?

Your profile will be displayed randomly on all of the Twitter applications and websites in our network. For a list of the Twitter applications in the Featured Users network check out the Publishers page.

Can I change the way my banner appears?

Yes. By updating your Twitter profile. That is the only way to alter your profile banner. Your Featured User banner pulls all of it's information right out of Twitter.

Will you alert me when I run out of impressions?

Yes! If you follow @FeaturedUsers we'll DM you when you run out of impressions.

With a small line of JavaScript.

Where am I allowed to place my Featured Users banner?

Your banner must be placed above the fold. "Above the fold" is defined as within the top 768px.

Are there expectations on how well my site's banner must perform?

Yes. Your site is expected to have a Click Through Rate (CTR) above a certain threshold. If your site's CTR drops below the current network threshold, Featured Users will stop serving paid ads on your site until your CTR rises above the threshold. The purpose of this is to encourage good ad placement by our publishers, and to ensure our advertisers are getting high quality exposure.

What happens if there are no available Featured Users at the time of my banner displaying?

We will display your domain's default sponsor. You can change your default sponsor by going to the "Manage Domain & IPs" tab of your publisher dashboard. If you haven't set a default sponsor a banner for the Featured Users network will be displayed.

Can I change the style of my banner?

A little bit. You can set the height and width to a limited extent, and you can enable or disable the border. More custom styles are on the way.

I have objections to a particular user's profile & don't want it displayed on my site. What can I do?
